Recently, sad news has been circulating over the news for all the Gold’s Gym fans. It is to be believed that the owner of that gym Rainer Schaller (59 years old) is one of the people who were in the plane that crashed.
The German businessman had an investment group that acquired the gym two years ago. Along with Gold’s gym, Schaller also owned McFit gym.
Rainer Schaller Owner Of Gold’s Gym Feared To Be Among Dead In Weekend Plane Crash
It was recently informed that a plane crashed last weekend in Costa Rica and Rainer Schaller is amongst the list of demise.
The company wrote that they have a confirmation that Gold’s gym owner Rainer Schaller boarded that same plane along with his family. The family included Schaller’s girlfriend; Christiane Schikorsky.
It is clear that she was also on that plane along with their two kids. There were two more people on that plane and nobody is alive. The situation is under investigation and the company appreciates everyone’s understanding on the matter.
The RSG Group released a statement saying that they are filled with grief and are feeling completely shocked. This recent news has sent everyone into a phase of anxiety but their thoughts are with the families of the passengers.
According to Jorge Torres, the security minister, his team received an alert around six in the evening. A flight was incoming to the Limón airport and had taken off from Mexico. There were five German passengers on that flight.
The ministry also said that two bodies were found, one child and one adult. Along with the bodies, some backpacks and bags were also recovered.
Since the search teams are already on the rescue mission, it can neither be confirmed nor denied if everyone is dead. The team has found two bodies and looking for more. Red Cross has also been asked to help with the search mission.
The coast guard is conducting a search operation around the Caribbean Sea. It started around 5 in the morning on Saturday. The team found the leftover parts of the aircraft at a distance of 28 km from the Limón airport.
Around 6 in the evening, the Juan Santamaria Airport’s air control room lost contact with the pilot. This was when the airplane was flying along Costa Rica’s east coast and over the Parismina area.
The crashed plane was a Piaggio P180 Avanti nine-seater Italian design.

Schaller founded McFit gym in Bavaria, Germany in 1997. Slowly by 2016, he spread its branches across Germany and attained more than 400,000 members. After this success, Rainer Schaller started buying out his competition and expanded his business on a global level. Different gym brands in this quest.
Schaller’s parent company, the RSG Group purchased Gold’s Gym in 2020 in an auction. Before that, the gym was about to declare itself bankrupt but Schaller bought it for $100 million. During this acquisition, he said that Gold Gym was his inspiration before he came into the business. That’s how he established McFit in 1997. During the press release, Schaller also said that Gold’s gym is something he is incredibly proud of and with this new partnership, the iconic brand will enjoy a new life.
Currently, the group owns around 21 brands, including creative management companies. Approximately 41,000 employees were working under the German businessman.
Before opening up the first McFit gym, Rainer Schaller was a retail salesperson and trained to become an entrepreneur one day.
