New York Governor George Pataki was among the 13 Republican candidates speaking at the RJC Presidential Presidential Forum. As of December 29, he has suspended his campaign.
Pataki said he is running because the Republicans need to nominate someone who can win and govern. He feels he is that person, having won in a very Democratic state. He ran as a conservative and he can win in 2016. He turned NY around – lowered taxes and turned a deficit into a surplus. He promised reduce the federal workforce by 15% and simplify the tax code.
On foreign affairs, Pataki wants to rebuild and strengthen our military and stand with our allies. He urged us not to forget the lessons of 9/11 and the need to destroy radical Islam. He said Israel was a strong ally, getting hit with scud missiles during the Gulf War and not reacting in order to help the United States preserve its coalition and beat Iraq.
Like many of the other candidates who spoke Pataki promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem.
