Is It Fair To Criticize Romney’s Home?

The Philadelphia Jewish Voice recently joined the chorus of voices speculating what Romney had planned in the huge underground complex being built underneath his lavish beachfront home in La Jolla, California. However, I have been asked whether it is fair to bring up such personal details in a political debate. What difference is it to us how Romney spends his wealth and how he lives?

I had to admit that this point has merit, but then Andrew Kaczynksi highlighted this 2004 video of Mitt Romney at the Republican Governors Association where Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) made fun of then-Presidential-candidate Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) for having a large home:

There’s a Senator from my state who wants to get elected President.
I don’t know why he would want to do that, because he would have to move into a smaller house.

I guess what is good for the “meshugas” is good for the “Michigander”, and Romney is just getting a taste of the sort of attacks he himself dished out in the past.

Fire away. (After all as Romney says he “likes being able to fire.”)
