The Last Sephardic Jew

Just as there is a Yiddish revival, there is a Ladino renaissance occurring. Eliezer Papo, a rabbi, attorney, and novelist who is originally from Sarajevo is spearheading this movement. He teaches Ladino at the Ben Gurion University in Israel. He is featured in a documentary called “El Ultimo Sefardi” or “The Last Sephardic Jew.” In it he retraces the steps of the Sephardic diaspora from Toledo during the time of the expulsion to Jerusalem in the present.
