Israeli Inventor Raises Funds for Manufacturing Cardboard Bicycles

Last year, Israeli inventor Izhar Gafni has created a prototype for a “green” bicycle, made of cardboard and recycled tires and plastic bottles. This bicycle is both water and fire proof, and can hold a rider that weighs up to 400 pounds. Gafni’s video, explaining how his bicycle works, has gained more than 1.3 million views on Vimeo. If the bike is sold at retail outlets, it is projected to cost $30.

Gafni and his partner, Nimrod Elmish, are hoping to bring these bicycles to market with the help of crowdfunding through Indiegogo. The two hope to raise $2 million during the next 38 days for the matter.
