The National Council of Jewish Women Greater Philadelphia Section will present a program at its meeting and luncheon on Tuesday, March 6 at 11:30 a.m. featuring four members of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom (SOSS), a national organization of Jewish and Muslim American women. The meeting will be held at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA.
Founded in New Jersey in 2010 by a multi-ethnic group of a dozen women, they had as their goal to enter into a dialogue and get to know one another. The organization has grown to 150 chapters in the United States and Canada. The Philadelphia chapter has been in existence since 2015. The SOSS is the only national group of Muslim and Jewish women in this country committed to building trust and respect through the development of strong relationships with one another.
The four speakers are: Meredith Barber, Psy. D., psychotherapist, Jewish co-chair; Sally Selim, M.D., clinical drug development, Muslim co-chair; Carol Wilder, lawyer and vice president of the board of HIAS-PA; Teresa Marie Hadjali, MSW, M. Ed, LSW, education consultant and a PA licensed social worker.
