HIS GENERAL ORDER NO. 11 WILLIAM CHAMBRES, HISTORIAN – CHELTENHAM, PA To this day General Order No. 11 remains a blight on the military career of the general who saved the Union. Today, long after the 150th anniversary of the “War Between the States,” many of the issues of that time are still with us. Bill Chambrés is a retired U.S. Army veteran He resides in the historic community of La Mott, Pennsylvania. An astute writer, he is the editor-in-chief of the history-based website, www.historic-lamott-pa.com., He holds the title of Historian Laureate of Cheltenham, PA and is a member of the American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians, the Company of Military Historians and the Society for Military History. He is also an Associate Member of the Foreign Policy Research Institute. William Chambres is the author and editor of My War Too! a brief review of African American contributions during World War II. He lives by the axiom “A good historian makes the unfamiliar familiar; a great historian makes the familiar unfamiliar.”
