Hadassah Greater Philadelphia’s Annual Education Day
to Feature Panel of Influential Women in the Arts, Government and Education

PHILADELPHIA (March 7, 2018) — “Jewish Women Changing Our World: Shattering the Glass Ceiling – Breaking Barriers” is the theme of this year’s Day of Education and Inspiration presented by Hadassah Greater Philadelphia. The event will be held April 25 at the William Penn Inn in Ambler.

Speakers include:

  • Jane Golden, Executive Director and Founder, Mural Arts Program
  • Leslie S. Richards, Pennsylvania Secretary of Transportation
  • Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers

Lisa Hostein, editor of Hadassah Magazine and former editor of Philadelphia’s Jewish Exponent, will serve as both moderator and a speaker.

“We chose March 8th to announce our event because it coincides with International Women’s Day,” said Heidi Mikels. Her co-chair, Elyse Topolsky, agrees. “The theme of International Women’s Day is ‘press for progress.’ The distinguished women on our panel continue to do just that.” Hadassah is a strong advocate for women’s issues, including gender equality in medical research, women’s preventive health, human trafficking, and affordable childcare.

In keeping with Hadassah’s commitment to community involvement, attendees are asked to bring new children’s books for ages 5 months to 5 years. The books will be donated to the Reach Out and Read program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which incorporates books into pediatric care and encourages families to read aloud together.

Cost of the program is $60 for members, $65 for non-members and includes all program materials, continental breakfast and lunch. The event, which begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m., will be held at The William Penn Inn, 1017 DeKalb Pike, Ambler, PA.

Reservations must be made by April 9. For ticket information, contact Judy Ron at [email protected] or 215-732-7100.
