Adult Book Discussion Group The Meyers Library hosts an Adult Book Discussion Group. This is a moderated book discussion and not a book review. Participants are expected to share their insights, reactions, and comments with others who have also read the book. On Tuesday May 5 we will discuss The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman. This is the One Book One Jewish Community selection for this year in Philadelphia. In Berlin, Hanni Kohn knows she must send her twelve-year-old daughter away to save her from the Nazi regime. She finds her way to a renowned rabbi, but it’s his daughter, Ettie, who offers hope of salvation when she creates a mystical Jewish creature, a rare and unusual golem, who is sworn to protect Lea. Once Ava is brought to life, she and Lea and Ettie become eternally entwined, their paths fated to cross, their fortunes linked. The discussion will begin at 1 p.m. and will be remote on ZOOM (kenesethisrael.org/zoom). All book selections are available in the Meyers Library and on the library Kindles.
