Florida Senator Marco Rubio was among the thirteen Republican candidates speaking at the RJC Presidential Presidential Forum.
Rubio’s presentation was more scripted than some of the other Republican presidential candidates. He seemed to be reading whereas Texas Senator Ted Cruz and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham spoke without notes. Rubio was a better and more passionate speaker when he answered questions and spoke extemporaneously.
The Senator said our foreign policy lacks “moral clarity” and that President Obama has emboldened our adversaries and weakened our allies.
We are facing “apocalyptic Islam”. That is not meant to be inflammatory, but accurate. This term describes the movement’s goal; to cause an apocalypse to bring about their vision of world order (an Islamic caliphate).
Rubio emphasized that Israel is the only free market economy democracy in the Mideast. Those who discriminate against Israel are anti-Semites especially when they single Israel out for censure while other countries may be doing the same or worst. There is no moral equivalency between Israel and its enemies. Rubio considers the boycott Israel (BDS) movement to be anti-Semitic.
He promised to end the Iran nuclear deal, impose new sanctions, and move the US embassy to Jerusalem.
